KCH Offers Breast Health Classes
MammaCare Training Sessions: Early Detection is Key
MammaCare Breast Self-Examination is the recognized standard for teaching and performing manual breast examination throughout the world. Women and clinicians properly trained in this technique have found breast cancers as small as 3 mm in diameter. KCH now offers one-on-one instruction provided by a certified MammaCare Breast Self-Examination Instructor. To schedule a one hour training session, call 815.748.8962. The cost is $5 person and registration is required. Sessions are held on the first and third Thursdays of every month; appointments are scheduled between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Breast Health Begins Before 40
Breast health practices begin as a teenager. There are advancements in healthcare technology, self breast exam techniques, and lifestyle recommendations. In one evening a woman can learn about the importance of breast health, what MammaCare is from a certified MammaCare nurse, and the importance of a proper bra fitting courtesy of a certified bra fitter. A tour of the KCH radiology department is included, where class members can view a mammography machine and know what to expect during a mammogram. To register for this class, call 815.748.8962. There is no cost, but registration is required. This class is held in the KCH Roberts Conference Center on Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 7 to 9 p.m.
